
Biography
Marco Orazio Vallone is an Italian conductor based in the Netherlands, currently in the final year of the National Master in Orchestral Conducting at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, where he studies with Ed Spanjaard, Jac van Steen, and Antony Hermus.
Marco began his musical journey as an oboist, studying at the Conservatory of Menton in France with François Meyer, and later at the Rainier III Academy in Monaco-Monte-Carlo, refining his instrumental technique privately with Nicola Patrussi.
In 2024, Marco graduated in Orchestral Conducting from the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan under the guidance of Vittorio Parisi. Throughout his training, he participated in masterclasses with renowned conductors such as Lorenzo Viotti, Richard Egarr, Tianyi Lu, Francesco Lanzillotta, and Otto Tausk. He has also served as assistant conductor with several leading orchestras, including the Rotterdam Philharmonic under Lahav Shani, Residentie Orkest, Dutch National Ballet Orkest, Belgian National Symphony Orchestra, and Noord Nederlands Orkest, gaining hands-on experience in both operatic and symphonic repertoire.
In December 2025, Marco conducted at the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, following his appearance at the Musica Sacra Festival in Maastricht in September 2025. He has also been involved in notable projects such as conducting Viktor Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis and Fausto Romitelli’s Professor Bad Trip in collaboration with the Milan Conservatory and Milano Musica Festival. His artistic achievements have been recognized with several awards, including a special mention at the Alceo Galliera International Conducting Competition in 2023 and the title of “Young Excellence of Western Liguria” awarded by the Lions Club in 2022.
Alongside his conducting career, Marco has developed a strong interest in composition and musical interpretation, which has become central to his artistic identity. His work demonstrates a commitment to both classical and contemporary repertoire, with a particular focus on engaging musicians and audiences through thoughtful musical storytelling.
